Thank you so much is not enough.

I was going to write something entirely different, but I was blessed to be reminded that there are still some outstanding people out there, the kind that really will do anything to put a smile back on your face.
For those of you who read this, and as far as I know, it is my mother, sometimes a cousin or two, and an old mentor from band years past, I have my moments. Tonight was one of my moments and I am struggling with what I really am going to do with my life and how it is going to be, particularly over the next month or two. I took time tonight to play the piano and let my energy flow out from my fingertips. It's better than smashing my favorite mug, which I was tempted to do...
Anyway, eventually through my thoughts, I found myself kneeling at the piano bench in the common room, praying. I was just finishing when one of my friends from the Spanish house walked through. I haven't really talked to him very much at all, but he was kind enough of course to ask if I was ok. I nodded, choking over words and tears. I turned to leave, and he asked me for a hug. If he knows it or not, he was definitely a small answer to my prayer. I go home, feeling a little better, still thinking. I sit down on the couch with my scriptures, journals, and a bit of homework. Then someone knocks on the door, but all my roommates are home. It's close to midnight at this point. I open the door and there he is with a pitcher and something in it. He told me that whenever he feels upset, two things always help: the scriptures and a smoothie. He had gone back to his apartment and made me a strawberry-banana smoothie. I was so shocked and impressed at the same time that I'm still not sure what to say but mumble thank you and give him another hug. It's people like him that make this world one worth living in.

2 Nephi 32:8-9
"And now, my beloved brethren, I perceive that ye ponder still in your hearts; and it grieveth me that I must speak concerning this thing. For if ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray ye would know that ye must pray; for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray.
But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance my be for the welfare of thy soul."

  2. I'll never forget two times I was really sick at college. Once, in my freshman year, a friend told me at church that I looked like I really needed to go back to my apt for some rest, so she walked me back to make sure I got there safe. Then my sophomore year, someone did a "knock and run" leaving me several cans of chicken noodle soup. I thought maybe it was my best friend with her first initial (C) disguised as a smiley face (as if it had been marked as to who the owner was) but she never fessed up and I never found out who really gave it to me. I think it's so awesome that he would do that for you!!! Playing piano is definitely therapeutic for me too-and I don't hide any emotion well while playing, I could be playing a "happy" song and my band director would immediate ask "What's wrong" because he could tell it was not played in a "happy" way. Hang in there...have you checked in that guy who does NLP? We should definitely get together during Thanksgiving break, even if it's me coming up to Blackfoot for lunch at Rupes :-)
